Joel Danshes (vocals, percussion): When I was in Jr High, I got together with some neighborhood friends and formed a rock band doing top hit songs from the late 60’s & 70’s. We performed at high school dances and parties as “The Last Exit”. Things fizzed out in 1975, lasting around 5 years. Then came college and a career…Fast-forward 40 years to 2014, when I began singing again in one of the adult bands at the Levine School of Music, and met Nomi, our bass player/vocalist, and Robby our drummer, and also had some intense band sessions with several other talented musicians. Today, I’m taking voice classes in college and have also done some private vocal lessons. The Uncounted now helps bring out the best in me, and transports me to places that I’ve never been before. |

Mark Kreiser (guitar): Playing guitar from the age of 17, and around the Baltimore/Washington area since the early 90’s. Lead guitarist for Big Sur and the Mad Moose Blues Band, regular guest with the Billy Thompson Band, and session guitarist at Order Studios. Co-Founder of Urban Creek Records. |

Pat Starkey (guitar, vocals): Started learning guitar at 14, took two years of lessons and then self-taught. My first guitar teacher was the owner of George Harrison’s guitar from their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, signed in gold leaf by all four Beatles. He spent more time talking about that guitar than teaching me how to play. My first guitar was an old Silvertone acoustic bought from Sears. I have played in amateur bands from the late eighties through the early nineties, writing a few tunes along the way. Did a RPM music challenge (create an album of original music in 28 days) around 2010 with my friend Steve Sellers. Joined the Uncounted in 2018. |

Robby Brewer (drums): Started playing drums in the 8th grade after abandoning five years of piano lessons. His first teacher was jazz drummer, Mickey Toperzer, founder of Drums Unlimited in Bethesda. Robby played in concert bands, orchestras, and a rock band in junior high and early high school, as well as for a year in college. After a long hiatus for law school, a career, and a family, he resumed playing in 2012. He’s an avid fan for music of many genres. |

Nomi Ruppin (bass, vocals): Studied classical guitar as a teen, but never practiced. (Cautionary tale! Practice while you’re young.) Came back to it briefly decades later, but then decided to switch to bass (one string at a time is more my speed). Studied voice for 5 years as an adult. So happy to have found friends to share the joy with! |
